30K Iron Hand in MkII armour – painting recipe

Black 
Undercoat of Colour Forge Matt Black. 
Xenthial highlights (Airbrush) of 50:50 Abaddon Black/Mechanicum Grey, Mechanicum Grey, Mechanicum Grey with four drops of white to half an airbrush cup.
Then shade down with airbrush Abaddon Black, focusing on the inner sides of the leg and the lower half of the shoulder pads. Go back and do the last xenthial highlight on the shoulder pads if issues.
All over coat of Nuln Oil

Highlight with Mechanicum Grey, Dawnstone and white (corners)

Shade with repeated layers of thinned down Abaddon Black, focused on the shadows.

 

Tubes
Warpstone Glow, then Moot Green. Do similar for lenses, but with white dots and layer of Hardcoat.

 

(Ork) Leather 

Caliban Green, highlights of Waaagh Flesh, Warboss Green

 

White (gun cases)

Corvus White, highlighted with Skull White

 

Skulls (on bases) - as above but with a layer of Skeleton Horde. 

 

Metal
Flysea Chrome Paint Marker for all trim, Lead Belcher for everything else. Highlights with Stormhost Silver.

 

Glowing Visors
Corax White, mix of Contrast Medium and Green Stuff World 2364 - Green Lime Pigment, thinned down Corax White

 

Bases
Layer of Skrag Brown

Apply second layer of Skrag Brown, dunk in rubble mix before dry. Wait to dry, apply another coat of Skrag Brown, dry brush with Tallarn Sand, add Greenstuff World Marshland tuffs and skulls. 

Add Forgeworld Orange Dust powder to feet with a dry brush. Dry brush feet with Ratskin Flesh very sparingly, focusing on the raised bits of feet (some edge highlighting) 

Shade the base in places (shadows, underneath the model) with Agrax Earthshade.
