Orphine
Althought the Orphine subsector contains few systems of note, Planetary Governors and Imperial Commanders of the subsector and the neighbouring Clausentum subsector tend to lend one another support – both political and military – in important matters, and consequently form a power bloc that belies their relatively small size. As a result, Orphinian politicians and warlords have disproportionately large influence in the sector; a matter that is widely regarded as inviting corruption into the Imperial court through undue and unrepresentative power.
Despite a history of objections from powerful groups and noble families across the sector, numerous charters through the millennia have upheld the subsector Governance's legitimacy. Rumours abound that this state of affairs is tacitly sanctioned by the Inquisition; though this cannot, of course, be verified. Less cynically, the subsector's rulers have had a long history of leading their people well – and in a mostly upright fashion.
Of particular note in the subsector is the Polygonal Space Anomaly: an unusual 'fold' in space that demarcates the spinwards boundary of the subsector and the border between Orphine and Clausentum.
