I originally started collecting daemons to complement my Word Bearers, but I decided to expand them into a force in their own right when Codex: Daemons came out for 6th Edition. However, other projects (not to mention Diablo 3 and a return to WoW), took over and I've only recently returned to them. I'm finding them a joy to paint - the weirdness and having to paint something other than armour is a refreshing change.
I've also been trying out some new techniques: coloured glazes on the Nurgle Daemons and wet blending on the Slaaneshi Daemons and the warp-flames of the daemons of Tzeentch. I do the blending partially in situ. First, I paint a wash over a white or light coloured basecoat and when its still wet, go over the raised areas with white with a bit of the wash mixed in and then work up the highlights towards pure white.
