Cibernum

The humans that are stationed on Cibernum Alpha are deployed in the comparatively warm bogland of the area invading Imperial forces have dubbed – with typical bleak humour – Lucky Break. The mist-shrouded marshes and petrified forests give way to hundreds of leagues of resource-poor tundra before petering out into broken deadlands, where millions of orks dwell. The tundra is haunted by packs of lethal nightwargs, which are kept at bay by tangled lines of razorwire, dilapidated security fences and minefields.

All human life on this beachhead planet is militarised; the planet has a tithe designation of Aptus Non, reflecting its status as a fortification and foothold in the Scallop Stars. The Cibernum Pioneer regiments, descended from – and replenished by – crusaders of the various ork culls over the millennia, are tough, distinguished as much by their stubborn nature as their thick woolen kilts and heavy chem-breathers.
